Description: In this 4-week workshop series we will look to re-connect with our yoga practice. This workshop will be for anyone - new to yoga, learning and seasoned yogis. We will work on proprioception (knowing where your body is in space - like balancing) and interoception (paying attention to what is going on inside your body - like specific muscles, fear or resistance to doing a pose, your heartbeat and your breath). Students can have input to the specifics of each class, requesting certain poses, certain areas of the body to work on, etc.
We will work on abdominals, balance, inversions (gentle - no handstands), easy arm balances, and gentle postures. I will guide students through each pose with detailed instructions (if needed) and will provide “bus stops” for more difficult poses so that a student can stop at points along the way, or continue with the full pose.
Benefits of the workshop will include: renewed passion for yoga, improved lung capacity, improved immune system (especially good for this time of year), improved flexibility and muscular tone, and getting out of the ego mind and into just ‘being’.
Props suggested for each class are: bolster or pillows, blanket, chair, belt, wall, blocks if you have them.
Oct. 22: Abs and balance - gentle yoga asanas, some breath work.
Oct. 29: Abs, Inversions such as downward dog, camel, elbow dog, others
Nov 5: Abs, Arm balances: lolasana, tolasana, crow, etc.
Nov 12: Review and student’s choice.
